Directors' Day - “Sustainable Connections”
“Sustainable Connections” was the theme of Virginia’s Director’s Symposium held on Wednesday, June 4, and hosted by Brian McTague, VCU’s Writing Center Director, in Richmond, VA. The entire state was represented from Wise to NOVA to Tidewater.
Attending were: Pat Bozeman, Reynolds CC; Joe Essid, University of Richmond; Janet Hanks, New River CC; Roberta Johnson, Reynolds CC; Jenny Koster, Piedmont Valley CC; Brian McTague, VCU; Gayla Mills, Randolph-Macon Ashland; Cyndi Newlon, UVA at Wise; Peter Redding, Marymount University; Tess Stockslager, Liberty University, Alice Trupe, Bridgewater College; Sylvia Whitman, Marymount University, and Sharon Zuber, William and Mary.
After a Meet-and-Greet session with coffee and snacks, the participants self-selected one of four Breakout Sessions: 1. Sharing resources; 2. Social media; 3. Our place in the SWCA; and 4. Organizing the state.
As each group reported their ideas, our discussion took our state closer to getting organized.
